Simply pathetic

"That would be a real big problem for us, no question about that."

That's a quote from James Clyburn, a democrat from South Carolina who's the House Majority Whip. He's talking about our country having success in Iraq.

How in the hell have we gotten to the point that if we, the United States, succeeded in a WAR, that would mean a problem for ANY American, let alone one of the two major political parties? I mean, how sad is that?

Here's the background: A piece appeared in the New York Times on Monday, written by Michael O'Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack of the Brookings Institution, a liberal think-tank in Washington.

It's important to note that O'Hanlon was an advisor to John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign and Pollack was a member of Slick Willie's administration in the 1990s. Both have been to Iraq a number of times and have returned, reporting dire circumstances. Both also have been ardent critics of President Bush's foreign policy.

The two returned to Iraq recently, though, because of the "surge" ... our change in approach to fighting the terrorists there and attempting to quell sectarian violence. What they found ... and what they came back and reported was that for the first time, they are genuinely hopeful. Their piece in the Times, entitled "Stability in Iraq: A War We Might Just Win," layed out an array of progress they witnessed, as well as heightened morale.

That, naturally, led some reporters and/or TV newsfolks to ask questions of leading Libs. Specifically, two Washington Post reporters asked Clyburn, "What do Democrats do if General Petraeus comes in in September and says 'This is working very, very well at this point. We would be foolish to back away from it'"? Clyburn's response, the quote that leads this blog, was that the Democrats would have a big problem on their hands.

Our success in Iraq? A problem for ANY segment of our society?

Sean Hannity and others have talked for a long time now about how Libs are invested in our defeat in Iraq. And I've heard them take shot after shot for saying so.

Now the Libs are admitting it.

And I personally feel sorry for this country because it is absolutely true.
